EVOO LP-7 Laptop – after inserting “EVOO” on Amazon you may find yourself in the olive oil section. The term “electronics” unveils many interesting things about the brand. It’s a well-known name among bargain hunters. You might’ve heard about the company if you’ve been searching for an inexpensive laptop online.
Lp-7 is an Android-based gaming laptop, retailing for $950 at Amazon. You can purchase it through Walmart or Amazon. The product contains an eight-core processor by AMD and the RTX-class graphics by Nvidia. It guarantees a smooth picture on a 15.6-inch display at 120 Hz.
LP-7 is certainly a decent example of a performer. However, pay attention to the attractive price of the components. It indicates that you’ll need to reconcile yourself to noisy coolers and all-plastic design. As an alternative, HP Omen 15 bypasses both issues for nearly the same price.
We find it an excellent entry-level AMD-powered laptop suitable for gaming. Meanwhile, LP-7 is still a proper choice with decent performance. Besides, it includes a ray-traced GPU, which provides a certain advantage in particular games.

There’s just one fixed configuration available for this product. It includes an octa-core processor, which is Ryzen 7 4800H “Renoir” and the RTX 2060 GPU. Considering the internals, LP-7 has a fair price and remains a proper choice.
But this is just an internal aspect. On the outside, we see an ordinary EVOO LP-7 laptop. There’s nothing outstanding in this laptop when put next to its competitors. The only glamorous detail is the reflective company logo placed on the lid.
However, simple design can be an advantage. Thus, it’s a plus if you’d like to avoid the feeling of spending too much. Also, the machine is all made of a plastic material. Meanwhile, many similar products in the same price range have a metal-made keyboard or cover. The plastic layer is pretty thick. But it serves as a reminder of how inexpensive the machine is.
At the same time, the chassis’ construction is strong enough to hold out against bending. It weighs 1.9kg (4.2lbs) which is average for a regular 15.6-inch EVOO LP-7 laptop. EVOO LP-7 is great for gaming purposes delivering 1080p and a refresh rate reaching 120Hz. Actually, there are 144Hz-enabled gaming laptops on the market at the same price point. But they show little difference when it comes to practice.
Other than that, the screen handles various things on a proper level. It features the IPS technology allowing wide angles for viewing. Also, we were satisfied with its matte surface and adequate contrast/color characteristics. There’s only one serious drawback which is a low level of brightness. However, we still could recognize darker areas when playing games.
Input devices
EVOO LP-7’s keyboard has a familiar full-fledged layout. However, touch keyboard users might miss the Page Up, Page Down, and Home keys. In other respects, the typing process is pretty comfortable. Especially, considering smooth feedback and a large keystroke. The big centered font on top of the keys adds to overall convenience.
Nevertheless, it feels like the numeric keypad, placed in three columns, is secondary. A power button and a power mode switch are just above. The latter button is supposed to toggle from the office mode to gaming. But, unfortunately, I never came to know the difference between the modes.
It’s because no description comes with the brand’s Control Center application. However, it has controls for the color and brightness of the keyboard. Besides, with the help of it, you can turn off the Windows key.
There are 29 colors to choose from for the keyboard. But you can only use one of them at a time. Technically speaking, this isn’t RGB, since blue, red, and green color values can’t be specified. Nevertheless, it looks pretty colorful. Laptops suitable for gaming rarely provide more than just a few colors for this price. The only exception we know is Alpha 15 where every key is RGB backlit.
A massive buttonless touchpad makes the LP-7 even more practical. It has a smooth surface and produces quiet clicks, which feels pretty comfortable.
On the back of the EVOO LP-7 laptop, you’ll find stereo speakers, directed downwards. They can make an impressively loud sound, but it’s also muffled and hollow. If you’d like to make some arrangements, use the THX application that features Spatial Audio.
The bottom of the EVOO LP-7 laptops has detachable screws allowing you to do some upgrades. Under the panel, you’ll see two M.2 slots with just one of them free. Also, there are two SO-DIMM memory slots, both occupied. Having the upgrade option is quite pleasing when lots of laptops use soldering for memory. (The majority of gaming laptops provide an option for storage capacity upgrade.)
Ports layout
LP-7 is equipped with multiple ports on both sides and, unexpectedly, on the back edge. Three USB-A inputs along with jacks for Ethernet, headphones, and mic are on the sides. Also, there you’ll find an SD card reader of full-sized format, which is rare.
The back contains a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 and HDMI 2.0 ports. In addition, there are a couple of mini-DisplayPorts for video there. Such a variety of video ports is a luxury for a EVOO LP-7 laptop. In addition, with an AC power jack, you can keep the cable out of your way.
The notebook supports the most recent Bluetooth 5 and Wi-Fi 6 standards. It’s possible due to the AX200 network card by Intel. As a typical gaming notebook, LP-7 has no built-in biometric technologies. No fingerprint reader, no infra-red feature on a webcam. The latter one is located right above the screen and has a 720p resolution. Again, it’s an average quality for a camera among competing products.
EVOO Gaming Laptop – Testing
The review unit utilizes technologies of the previous generation. However, almost a triple-digit frame rate at 1080p is quite impressive. Besides, it’s easy to find in stores or buy online. Other recent EVOO LP-7 laptops with RTX 3000 GPUs or Ryzen 5000 processors aren’t as available. Why should you wait when it’s possible to get a proper gaming experience at once?
Gaming Laptops | Processor | Graphics | Memory & Storage |
---|---|---|---|
EVOO LP-7 | AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (2.9 GHz) | Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB) | 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD |
Alienware m15 R4 | Intel Core i7-10870H (2.2 GHz) | Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB) | 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD |
Asus TUF Dash F15 | Intel Core i7-11375H (3.3 GHz) | Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 (8 GB) | 16 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD |
HP Omen 15 | AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (2.9 GHz) | Nvidia GeForce RTX 1660 Ti (6 GB) | 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD |
MSI Alpha 15 | AMD Ryzen 7 4800H (2.9 GHz) | AMD Radeon RX 5600M (6 GB) | 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD |
For the sake of comparison, we took similar products with a 15.6-inch diagonal. For example, Alpha 15 by MSI and HP Omen 15 have AMD processors, too. But we also tested more expensive and powerful models.
Alienware m15 R4 along with ASUS TUF Dash F15 work on the latest Intel chips. Their prices are $2,499 and $1,699 respectively. So LP-7 is supposed to lag behind them. Regarding other competitors, LP-7 is expected to surpass them or, at least, maintain the pace.
LP-7 produced pretty loud sounds during gaming sessions and the entire process of testing. The temperature remained cool both inside and outside. Most of the time the GPU dwelled in the 60°C range, the CPU – slightly above 70°C. But the cooling system could be heard all over the place. The fans have a semi-high tone, so they don’t merge with the background sounds. Alpha 15 produces notably less noise, while Omen 15 is the quietest one.
Media, storage, and CPU performance
PCMark 10 by UL was the first test we applied. It simulates a number of content creation workloads and various real performances. Also, we used PCMark 8’s subtest called Storage. It helped us to assess how fast the system’s storage subsystem was. Quite predictably, LP-7 excelled in each of the tests. It finished one step behind Asus.
PCMark 10 (Overall Score) Productivity & Storage (higher is better)
PCMark 8 (Storage Test Score) Productivity & Storage (higher is better)
Then, we conducted a few stress tests for CPUs. One of them is Cinebench R15. It loads all the CPU cores and threads that are available during the rendering process. The second one is the Handbrake. It evaluated the recording of a 12-minute long video from 4K to 1080p.
Cinebench R15 (All Core Setting – higher is better)
Handbrake 1.1.1 (Encode 12-min 4K Test File to 1080p – min, lower is better)
LP-7 handled both exams very well, just as MSI and HP. The trio effortlessly outperformed Alienware’s Intel chip with eight cores. It’s curious, considering the fact that the number of CPU cores is the same. It emphasizes the supremacy of AMD Renoir in the high-level mobile section.
The photo editing test was the last one. We used Creative Cloud by Adobe Photoshop in the 2018 version. A standard JPEG image underwent 10 various complex effects and filters. Each operation was synchronized and the results were summarized. This is not as CPU-oriented as the two previous ones. It concerns the storage subsystem, GPU, and memory performance.
Photoshop CC (Apply 10 filters to Test JPG – sec, lower is better)
Intel notebooks, especially Asus, kept up with our review unit. But still, LP-7 showed good timing for such a product.
Graphics testing
We prepared a number of different tests for this part to evaluate gaming performance potential. Sky Diver is lightweight and able to run integrated graphics. A more demanding one is a Fire Strike, designed for high-ranking gaming PCs. Both of the tests use DirectX 11 and are parts of UL’s 3DMark.
3D Mark Graphics Tests (Sky Driver: Overall Score – higher is better)
3D Mark Graphics Tests (Fire Strike: Overall Score – higher is better)
Another program we applied to here was Superposition by Unigine Corp. It utilizes a different type of rendering engine to create 3D scenes of high complexity.
Unigine Superposition 1.0 – 720p Low Preset (Frames per second, higher is better)
Unigine Superposition 1.0 – 1080p High Present (Frames per second, higher is better)
LP-7 performed the way it should, having the RTX 2060 card. The GPU-oriented Superposition 1080p test displayed its advantage over HP and MSI’s video cards. Asus and Alienware’s RTX GPUs of the 30 series, of course, were unbeatable.
Let’s check if the numbers we got in tests correspond to performance in real games. For Far Cry 5 and Tomb Raider, we used built-in 1080p tests. The first game ran on DirectX 11, the second one was transitioned to DX 12.
Far Cry 5: Normal Present (Tested at 1080p – Frames per second, higher is better)
Far Cry 5: Ultra Present (Tested at 1080p – Frames per second, higher is better)
Rise of the Tomb Raider: Medium Present (Tested at 1080p – Frames per second, higher is better)
Rise of the Tomb Raider: Very High Present (Tested at 1080p – Frames per second, higher is better)
The results we received here put our LP-7 laptop closer to MSI, HP, and even Asus. By the numbers, we understand that it’s a decent platform for 1080p gaming. It’s also supposed to effortlessly increase frame rates with three digits for simpler Esports games.
If a game supports the DLSS technology, LP-7’s GPU can outperform MSI and HP. Cyberpunk 2077 and some other new ones provide such conditions.
Battery life
The last test helped us measure the battery life. We downloaded a video and played it at 50% display brightness with 100% audio volume. A power-saving profile out of all options available was our preference here. We also deactivated Wi-Fi and the keyboard lighting. This way the system could show the best possible results.
Video Rundown Battery Test (Hours.Minutes – higher is better)
As a result, LP-7 took a place somewhere in between the competitors. It performed worse than MSI, yet better than HP. Anyway, more than eight hours of autonomous work is quite an achievement for this product.
Economical gaming with LP-7
This is an inexpensive option for gaming that performs like a high-end one for enthusiasts. LP-7’s all-plastic construction and minimized frills accentuate great gaming performance. Considering the price, it’s impressive to see the Ryzen 7 octa-core chip and RTX 2060.
We still consider Omen 15 a top option among entry-level AMD notebooks for gaming. However, the review unit keeps up the pace due to quieter coolers and richer features. It could even be a more reasonable choice in some cases. For example, if your favorite games work with Nvidia RTX features and you’re budget-strapped.
The only thing you need to remember is the following one. Once you begin searching “EVOO company”, remember to choose the electronics section. Otherwise, you’ll end up browsing cooking oils.
